Overview
Ringway Jacobs has an exciting opportunity for a supervisor to join the Construction Team in Cheshire. To deliver an end-to-end highways capital programme to include carriageway and footway improvements, structure patching and surface treatment programmes, road marking replacements, vehicle restraint systems works and street furniture improvements. The purpose of the role is to supervise, plan, programme and organise delivery on site the Council’s highways improvement programme plus any other work streams that the Construction Team are commissioned to deliver to meet or exceed the required deliverables.
The Role
* Supervision of allocated works within the annual programme of works.
* Ensuring that projects are developed and delivered safely on time and to budget as per the Works Information.
* Ensure that all projects comply with Health and Safety Regulations and CDM requirements.
* Review of Supply Chain Partners Risk Assessments, Method Statements and COSHH for all allocated schemes.
* Carry out site inductions and issue permit to work, promoting RJ’s Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Procedures at all times.
* Co-ordination and integration of resources to deliver a project or programme, utilising internal staff, shareholder resources, external consultants and contractors as required.
* Ensure Supply Chain Partners deliver to all agreed standards.
* Produce weekly progress reports and complete daily site diaries.
* Supervision of out of hours works either night or weekend working from time to time.
* Other Ad Hoc duties to fulfil the requirement of the role.
Qualifications and Experience
* Preference will be given to candidates holding some or all of the following qualifications: NRSWA Supervisor, SSSTS, SMSTS, CSCS Supervisor, Temporary Works Supervisor, First Aid at Work.
* Experience working in the construction industry, preferably highways, is preferred.
* Experience undertaking construction work in the vicinity of underground services is preferred.
* Experience in the supervision or use of traffic management is preferred.
* Current, Full Driving Licence.
* Good IT, written and verbal communication skills.
* Able to provide the best solutions in terms of quality and cost.
* Apply a systematic and logical approach to works.
* Work to a high specification in order to improve and maintain quality.
* Retain a formal and professional manner, reflect on difficult situations and stay unemotional in order to resolve problems.
* Be alert to changing situations, show flexibility in approach, adaptability in difficult circumstances and continuously strive to achieve a result.
* Be non-confrontational when handling or involved in conflict situations and, to achieve agreed standards and timescales, adopt a passive and non-demanding working ethic.
