SEND School Learning Support Assistant – Leeds Full-time | Start ASAP until Summer 2026 (in the first instance)
About the Role
A busy and welcoming secondary school in Leeds is seeking a dedicated SEND School Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This long‑term role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference to students with a range of Special Educational Needs, supporting their learning, wellbeing and independence throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during small‑group or one‑to‑one sessions.
* Assist teaching staff in delivering differentiated learning activities.
* Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
* Support students with communication, emotional regulation and social development.
* Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and external professionals.
* Contribute to progress monitoring and maintain accurate support records.
Pre‑Requisites
* Minimum GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent).
* Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build supportive relationships.
* A patient, adaptable and empathetic approach.
* Enhanced, clear DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain).
* Reliability, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting young people.
