As the embedded hiring partner to the Founder, we are supporting an established and profitable UK contracting business appointing a Managing Director to assume full operational leadership.
Following sustained performance, the business is entering its next phase. The Founder is transitioning into an Executive Chair role focused on strategy and key relationships. The Managing Director will take responsibility for day-to-day performance, organisational leadership and delivery across the group.
The business operates nationally across multiple concurrent contracts. It has experienced teams, established client relationships and a strong delivery track record. The next phase requires sharper structure, deeper leadership capability and disciplined commercial oversight.
The Role
You will take full P&L responsibility and lead operational performance across the organisation.
This includes:
• Accountability for financial and commercial results
• Oversight of project delivery across multiple live contracts
• Developing and strengthening the senior leadership team
• Improving forecasting discipline and margin performance
• Embedding scalable processes and operational structure
• Maintaining key client and commercial relationships
• Translating board-level strategy into executable plans
You will work closely with the Executive Chair while owning day-to-day leadership of the business.
About You
You are an experienced operator from a contracting, construction or project-led services environment.
You may currently be a Managing Director, Operations Director, Regional Director or General Manager stepping into full business leadership.
You will bring:
• Proven P&L accountability
• Experience leading multi-site delivery teams
• Strong commercial judgement
• Confidence operating alongside founder ownership
• The ability to introduce structure without diluting entrepreneurial drive
This role requires a leader comfortable taking ownership within an owner-led environment while building capability for long-term growth.
