Job Overview:
In this role, you will be part of the NPI team supporting the demand for new propeller manufacturing systems and developing the next generation of electrified, sustainable aviation. You will ensure design for manufacturing remains a focus during product development, providing feedback, resolving issues, and supporting documentation and tooling for manufacturing.
Responsibilities:
* Ensure safety and compliance in all tasks.
* Act as the subject matter expert on CNC mill and lathe machining.
* Create, validate, and improve CNC programmes for prototypes, primarily using CATIA V5, with knowledge of Heidenhain and hyperMILL preferred.
* Author CMM programmes and explore inspection technologies.
* Design floorplans and process flows to optimize facility performance.
* Collaborate with engineering to enhance manufacturability using DFM/DFA principles.
* Support installation and commissioning of new facilities with contractors and suppliers.
* Define process specifications and inspection strategies.
* Perform problem-solving and root cause analysis.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Interpret 2D drawings and specifications, addressing manufacturability challenges.
* Experience programming CNC machines with Fanuc/ISO and Heidenhain controllers.
* Offline CNC programming using CAD/CAM (Catia V5).
* Knowledge of 5-axis machining strategies.
* Proficiency with CAD software, preferably CATIA V5.
* Operate CMM/Laser Scanning technologies, familiar with Modus or Polyworks.
* Expertise in GD&T per BS308-3 and ASME Y14.5 standards.
* Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude.
Preferred Qualifications:
* PLC coding and modifications for continuous improvement.
* Experience with CNC cutting tables and laser projection programs.
* Knowledge of electromechanical systems and robotic automation.
* Facility planning experience in automated environments.
* Experience with composite and high-precision metallic components manufacturing.
* Lean Six Sigma or Red-X certification and a passion for continuous improvement.
