The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Performance Engineer to join a Diesel Performance, Emissions and Validation team within a Product Engineering environment based in Stafford. This is a 12-month contract role offering the opportunity to work on both current production engines and new product introduction programmes.
You will be responsible for delivering engineering activities that develop engines to meet performance and emissions targets, supported by structured test work. The role has direct impact on product performance, compliance, and overall market desirability.
Key Responsibilities
Translate product-level objectives into clear technical objectives
Develop and execute test methodologies to evaluate technical performance
Contribute to Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) during concept reviews
Create and report Design Verification Plans (DVPs)
Lead diesel engine performance and emissions development activities
Specify, calibrate and verify software features
Create and optimise engine calibrations
Conduct mechanical verification and validation of engine components and systems
Perform failure analysis and defect resolution using industry-standard methods
Produce high-quality technical documentation and reports
Collaborate closely with platform and cross-functional engineering teams
Undertake occasional overseas travel where requiredKey Competencies
