The Opportunity:
Avantor is seeking an experienced, lab-savvy Research Technician to join our team in Cambridge, UK. You will be part of a laboratory-based group responsible for laboratory management, operation of the Bioassay Development Mammalian Tissue Culture Suite, and maintaining team compliance.
This full-time, temporary (12 months FTC) role is based at the new facility at The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. We offer an attractive salary, annual bonus, pension scheme, private medical and dental care, and an additional day off for your birthday.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 – 17:00
The Team:
You will join a close-knit team of 4 scientists within the Bioassay Development Group, responsible for assay development, laboratory maintenance, and provision of cultured cells for assays. You will support our Life Sciences industry clients worldwide within our Lab and Production Services department.
What we’re looking for:
* Education: Bachelor’s degree in life sciences or equivalent experience in a laboratory role for at least 1 year.
* Experience: Knowledge of mammalian cell culture, experience in a life science lab, understanding of Good Laboratory Standards (GLS), basic IT skills (MS Word/Excel), good time management, organization, and prioritization skills.

* Develop biochemical and cell-based potency assays based on drug mode of action.
* Maintain mammalian cell cultures and frozen stocks.
* Review and prepare data from experiments.
* Present findings internally and coordinate with other groups.
* Plan future experiments based on deadlines and client needs.
