Hours: 22.26 per week
St Thomas of Aquin's Roman Catholic High School is a learning community which provides a safe, supportive and enjoyable environment where staff, parents and pupils are inspired and motivated to work hard for one another to ensure the full potential of all pupils are fulfilled. The school improvement plan focuses on attainment/achievement in literacy and numeracy, closing the attainment gap between the most and least disadvantaged pupils, health and wellbeing, and employability skills and sustained positive school leaver destinations for all young people. A major focus is to continue working towards ensuring there is no pattern between lower attainment and children living in poverty.
Religion and eligibility: Catholic Schools – it is not necessary to be of the Catholic faith to apply. However, as this is a Roman Catholic school, appointees will require Church approval. The successful candidate must contact the Edinburgh Diocesan Staffing Adviser to verify or establish their status with regard to Church Approval. This post is regulated work with vulnerable children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. Preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG scheme update check before a formal offer of employment by the City of Edinburgh Council. Salaries are in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

Qualifications and Checks
* This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check.
* If an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more outside the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check is required. The unconditional offer of employment is subject to satisfactory outcomes of these checks.
