Job Overview
The Pressure Vessel Engineer II designs pressure vessel equipment according to the codes set by the customer. They work directly with the General Manager & Chief Engineer to verify that designs meet the required codes and may review them with third-party inspectors. They also work on customer orders, new product development, and the improvement of existing product lines by performing the following duties.
Responsibilities
* Interaction with sales engineers on quoted and sold vaporizer systems.
* Creating pressure vessel details complying with ASME Section VIII. Div.1, PED standards, and other governing pressure equipment codes including but not limited to: PD 5500, EN 13445, GB-150, AS1210, TEMA.
* Preparing calculation reports for vessel design, lifting analysis, wind/seismic/snow/ice loads, nozzle loads, and other applicable equipment loads.
* Working with local and international Notified Bodies.
* Completing forms and submissions to governing bodies such as ABS, CRN, DNV, Lloyd's, KGS, KR, NK.
* Designing piping and tubing assemblies in accordance with ASME B31.3.
* Designing steel frame weldments and details for machined parts.
* Selecting components and materials, creating parts lists for procurement.
* Conducting design reviews referencing PED standards.
* Collaborating with procurement and manufacturing teams.
* Working within required codes on projects and providing necessary information to mechanical designers or completing designs independently.
* Developing design concepts for new products or improvements based on sales engineer input.
* Ensuring compliance with customer specifications, codes, and standards in collaboration with the quality department.
* Monitoring manufacturing issues and assisting with operations manuals and customer inquiries.
* Adhering to project schedules.
Work Environment
This role operates in a professional office environment, utilizing standard office equipment. Employees are required to wear PPE as needed, including safety shoes, glasses, gloves, and other protective gear.
Physical Demands
Regularly required to talk, hear, and perform visual tasks. May need to lift files, open cabinets, and stand or bend as necessary.
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
* 3-6 years of experience in manufacturing and engineering of pressure equipment.
* Proficiency with design software such as AutoCAD & Inventor preferred.
* Experience with pressure vessel and heat exchanger design, BPV analysis programs required.
* Project management experience and exposure to cryogenic or natural gas industries highly desired.
* Strong communication, discipline, teamwork, and organizational skills.
* Proficiency in MS Office, Project, and PLM software.
* Ability to travel if needed.
