About the Team
The DACS team consists of nurses, psychologists, counsellors, social workers and medical officers who conduct assessments and provide counselling to clients seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use. The team follows a strengths‑based, trauma‑informed approach, listening to understand rather than labeling.
Role Responsibilities
* Professionally support individuals seeking assistance with alcohol and drug use using evidence‑based interventions
* Take a trauma‑informed, person‑centred approach tailored to individual needs
* Employ an individualised, holistic approach to care, incorporating comprehensive care planning to address the diverse physical, emotional and social aspects of each person’s journey
* Assess risk factors, provide interventions and complete evaluations and reports to ensure effective service delivery
Criteria
* Must hold a degree in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Counselling or Nursing (or equivalent) and be registered through AHPRA where applicable
* Eligible to drive in NSW and willing to travel long distances for work
* Advanced skills in drug and alcohol counselling, including comprehensive assessment, care planning and therapeutic intervention
* Ability to independently problem‑solve and apply professional and ethical boundaries in complex situations as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Awareness of cultural issues and ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds, providing a non‑judgemental, empathetic approach to Drug and Alcohol clients
