Rate of Pay: £12.21 per hour, rising to £12.41 after completion of a probationary period.

The International Centre for Life is a thriving science hub in the heart of Newcastle. Its purpose is to inspire everyone to explore and enjoy science and to provide a world class science hub where life enhancing engagement, research and clinical treatment can thrive. Life is home to NHS clinics as well as scientists and researchers from Newcastle University. Life Science Centre is at the heart of this ‘circle of science’ and aspires to be most accessible and inclusive visitor attraction in the UK. It has an international reputation for its work in sensory engagement.
We are looking for a flexible, reliable and hardworking individual to join our team of cleaners at Life. In this role, you will play a crucial part in maintaining the cleanliness of the science centre and other areas on site.
Tasks include sweeping and mopping floor areas, dusting, bin emptying, sanitisation of large spaces, and the upkeep of toilet facilities and other cleaning tasks as required. Training, including the operation of buffer machines, will be provided. Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
The ability to deliver work to a high standard independently is important. As the science centre is open seven days a week, shift patterns include weekend work, primarily in the early mornings and evenings, so having the ability to work various hours is advantageous.
