The property sits within approximately 40 acres and is supported by an established team, including an Estate Manager (who lives on the estate), a full-time Housekeeper, a dedicated dog carer, and additional estate staff. The household is home to three rescue dogs; however, there is a dedicated dog carer in place, so daily dog care is minimal and not a core part of the role. The property is located on Essex/Suffolk Border near Clare an historic market town with mainline rail services available from Witham or Braintree providing direct access to London Liverpool Street and Stratford and a short drive from Stanstead airport. The principals travel during May and October and also take an additional week away at other points in the year, so flexibility and reliability are essential. Job Description This is a long-term role for a capable and flexible couple working alongside the existing team. The positions suit a Housekeeper’s Assistant and a Handyman / Assistant Gardener. Housekeeper’s Assistant Supporting the Head Housekeeper with the smooth day-to-day running of the main house General cleaning and presentation to a high standard Laundry and ironing Assisting with basic family-style cooking (simple, traditional meals) Helping with preparation and organisation during periods when the principals are in residence Handyman / Assistant Gardener General outdoor maintenance including lawn care, hedge cutting and keeping the grounds tidy Assisting the Estate Manager and gardening team as required Basic handyman duties around the house and estate Overseeing external contractors such as window cleaners when on site Candidate Requirements Previous experience working as a Domestic Couple in a private household or estate setting Hands-on, practical and flexible approach Comfortable working as part of a wider estate team Happy with rural living and countryside environments Good communication skills and a proactive attitude Drivers prefer due to rural location Days of Work, Accommodation & Salary Monday to Friday Working hours will rotate as follows: (as required) 9am – 5pm 11am – 7pm Every second weekend: Saturday and Sunday mornings (2–3 hours per day) One day off in lieu during the following week Five-day working weeks overall, with alternate weekends free Accommodation: A four-bedroom bungalow with a couple of acres, located a short walk from the main house Included:, Council tax, Water & Wi-Fi Dependents and pets are welcome.
