Overview

We seek an ambitious individual with vision and leadership skills to shape a local authority building control service that can grow and thrive amidst changing priorities and increased scrutiny.
This role involves leading innovation, managing change, and embracing new ways of working in a digitally advancing world. Local Government Reform (LGR) offers us an opportunity, and we need someone who can turn change into progress and drive the strategic direction of the service.
Responsibilities
* Enhance service delivery by adopting digital tools and modern practices to improve efficiency and customer experience.
* Make timely and sound determinations on building regulation applications and advise on compliance matters.
* Develop and monitor a robust business plan for the building control service.
* Represent the Council in enforcement actions, policy discussions, and partnerships.
* Oversee investigations into dangerous structures and enforcement cases.

Candidate Profile
* Registered Building Inspector (RBI) Class 2A, with ambition to progress to Class 2F and Technical Manager Class 4.

* Commercial awareness.
