Clyro Church in Wales Primary School is an inclusive, caring school with the wellbeing of all pupils at its heart. We are located in a beautiful, rural community on the stunning Welsh border, near Hay-on-Wye, with state-of-the-art classrooms, extensive grounds with garden, outdoor classrooms and playground facilities in a recently built 21st century school. We are forward-looking, have embraced the Curriculum for Wales and are leading the way with the new Areas of Learning and Experience structure.
The Governing Body wishes to appoint an inspirational and enthusiastic Headteacher who:
is a highly collaborative leader with proven expertise in raising standards and providing strategic leadership and direction
has a commitment to delivering a nurture-based approach to pupils’ wellbeing
is effective in developing and motivating staff at all levels and can promote the school as a learning organisation where pupils can thrive
is an excellent classroom practitioner with proven track record of successful classroom practice
has a clear vision to further develop the school whilst maintaining our school’s inclusive ethos
has experience of effective financial management and school budgeting
has experience and sound knowledge of ALN management and supporting the varied needs of pupils across a school
has high aspirations for our pupils and will promote and celebrate their achievements
will encourage pupils to lead their own learning and ensure that pupil voice makes a strong contribution to the strategic direction of the school
will lead and motivate pupils, staff and governors to create an effective culture of learning and continue to develop the Curriculum for Wales
is forward-looking and takes the lead on continuous improvement with teaching practices and areas including technology, creative arts, sport and wellbeing
has the ability to promote the Christian ethos within the school
demonstrates an understanding of our Christian ethos and a desire to promote it within
the school
is able to communicate effectively at all levels, with our children, parents, governors and staff, and can create a close partnership between the school and the wider community
understands the importance of supporting vulnerable learners and their families
is open to new initiatives, research, and creative ways of working
will become an RI for our Pre School and offer clear leadership on further development and integration of the setting
This post carries a 3-day teaching commitment.
The successful candidate must hold the NPQH qualification. The governors will consider candidates who are currently enrolled in the NPQH programme for the position of Headteacher.
We can offer you a dedicated, established and conscientious staff and supportive governing body, who are committed to taking the school forward, ensuring that every pupil achieves the outcomes of which they are capable, and building on the success of Clyro Church in Wales Primary School.
We have an onsite Pre School, which is integrated with the school, from breakfast club to forest school and school activities. Our after school club is run by the Friends of Clyro School (PTA) who are active in securing grant funding for initiatives, promoting community events, raising awareness of the school and fundraising to support the children.
