This is a substantive consultant role within the Croydon Recovery & Rehabilitation Team within South London & Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust. The service provides intensive community-based rehabilitation, care and support for people, aged 18-65 years (and aged over 65 if they have been treated by a Croydon Adult Mental Health Service). Patients have severe and enduring mental illnesses and should be living in the London Borough of Croydon in a 24-hour supported placement such as Supported Housing, Supported Living, Residential Care Home or Nursing Home. It is a part-time role with 5 programmed activities:
3.5 Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 1.5 Supporting Programmed Activities (SPA) sessions (increasing to 2 SPAs for an academic affiliate program).
Main duties of the job
In collaboration with senior colleagues, the post-holder is expected to provide clinical, operational and strategic leadership to R & R. As part of the leadership team, the post-holder is expected to work proactively with managers and clinical staff to ensure that a high-quality service is provided to all patients.

We are also part of the King’s Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (one of six such centres in England), along with King’s College London, Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trusts.

1. CCT in GA Psychiatry (or within 6 months of same) with full GMC registration
2. AC status
3. Have led and worked in MDTs
4. Excellent communication skills
5. Experience of service development
6. Experience of Quality Improvement
7. Experience of teaching and supervision
8. Experience in Psychiatric Rehabilitation services
9. MRCPsych or FRCPsych
Desirable criteria
10. Clinically relevant higher degree e.g., MSc, MPhil, MD, PhD
11. Personal experience of mental illness and/or social distress
12. Evidence of helping others who have suffered physical, mental or social misfortune
13. Evidence of grant funded project work
14. Publications in relevant peer-reviewed journals
15. Medical education qualification OR formal leadership/management training
16. Experience of working effectively with non-NHS statutory organizations and VCSEs
