Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SABP) is building a new Mental Health Inpatient Service in Chertsey, Surrey.
Silverwood will contain four adult inpatient wards and is due to open in Autumn 2024. Our ambition is to transform inpatient mental healthcare for our local population.
The new unit will provide 64 beds all with single ensuite bedrooms, two lounges and a dedicated garden for each ward, as well as a woodland area for supervised walks.
We are looking to recruit a Consultant Psychiatrist who will be responsible for providing clinical input and leadership and working alongside a multidisciplinary team in line with New Ways of Working.
The team will support the Consultant Psychiatrist with,participating in triaging of referrals daily, completing initial assessments, liaising and collaboratively working with other professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward per the agreed Acute Service Operational Policy. In addition, the post holder will provide clinical leadership and be actively involved in service improvement activities.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be expected to work effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines and deliver services consistent with the Trust policy for the Care Programme Approach. The post-holder is also expected to liaise effectively with the other general and specialist teams operating in Surrey to ensure effective handover of care when patients transfer between teams as part of the patient pathway.

Qualifications
Essential
10. MB BS or equivalent recognised medical qualification
11. Full medical registration with a license to practice
12. Approval under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act(or within 6 to 12 months of the time of interview/assessment) or equivalent
Desirable
13. Relevant higher degree, e.g. MD, PhD, MSc or other additional clinical qualifications
14. MRCPsych or equivalent
15. Management qualification or evidence of an interest in developing leadership skills

16. Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
17. Included on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months
