Voluntary Events Coordinator- South Herefordshire Local Branch Group

Are you keen to support wildlife conservation? Do you have skills to share, or just lots of enthusiasm to make the world a better place?

Events Coordinator role and responsibilities

The Events Coordinator is responsible for making the events programme relevant and attractive for the local membership as well as organising the finer details of events to ensure they are successful.

* Suggest projects and social events for the branch
* Obtain requirements for an event, if needed, and liaise with the event organiser
* Help to find speakers for branch talks and liaise with Secretary about requirements for the venue
* Check volunteers are registered with HWT and have relevant training (DBS checks, First Aid etc.)
* Liaise with Publicity Officer to set up bookings and publicity requirements

Over the last two years, as the Herefordshire Wildlife Trusts’ Ross Branch, we have developed an active and fervent branch. We have run popular talks on local or topical issues and delivered wildlife gardening workshops to encourage wild patches in back gardens across South Herefordshire, all of which have been enjoyed by branch members and non-members. We have also engaged over 600 primary school students in the Ross area with hands-on projects, as well as hosting several creative competitions at John Kyrle High School. This year, we visited Townsend Farm to learn about regenerative farming from Regen Ben and ran two family events at the Ross Community Gardens.

We’re proud of what we’ve achieved together as a cohesive group of passionate and engaged volunteers who have expanded the horizons of the trust in South Herefordshire. We are incredibly keen to continue this development and would now love to hear from like-minded and enthusiastic people who might take the branch forward.

We are looking for people for various roles and we would be very happy to give training and support for anybody stepping forward to help. In addition, the Queenswood staff team will provide all the support needed to ensure you know what the trust is all about.

These roles are joyful and rewarding. You’ll build new relationships, connect with local organisations, and see first-hand the smiles when people of all ages discover something new about the natural world just outside our own front doors. We have certainly had a great time doing them and hope that somebody out there will be excited to follow on.

We’re also keen to grow our team and invite general volunteers to support our activities, so if a committee role isn’t for you, you can still be part of this exciting team.

If you’re interested in getting involved, we’d love to hear from you! Email us at hwtrossbranch@gmail.com to find out more.
