As a Post Office Counter Manager, we want you to put your ’stamp’ (pun intended) on your Post Office within a WH Smith store. You’ll motivate and inspire your team of counter assistants to provide exceptional customer service, meet business goals, and ensure the security of both cash and postal items.
What being a Post Office Counter Manager involves:
* Creating a customer service-led culture focused on continuous improvement and delivering a professional, friendly service to all customers.
* Collaborating with the store team to maximise sales opportunities and increase footfall in both the Post Office and the store.
* Ensuring the branch complies with current legislation and Post Office Ltd. standards and training requirements.
* Guiding and inspiring the team to achieve personal and branch targets, including sales, shrinkage, waste, cash loss, and staff costs, within an environment that promotes growth and inclusivity.
* Working closely with the Cluster Manager to identify cost savings and sales opportunities through analysis of the Profit & Loss statement.
* Supporting the Cluster Manager with employee lifecycle processes, including recruitment, appraisals, training, and disciplinary procedures.
Our Post Office Team would love to see:
* Retail or similar management experience, preferably with financial products or handling high-value cash transactions.
* Experience in supporting store goals, including maximizing sales, controlling shrinkage, and understanding P&L accounts.
* Proven ability to work towards and achieve challenging targets within tight budgets.
* Strong coaching and mentoring skills to improve team performance.
* Experience leading by example, actively engaging on the shop floor, and supporting team members.
