Position: Executive Director, Philanthropy & Communications Location: Based in South Surrey/White Rock, BC (Hybrid – some remote work and limited travel required) Hours: 35 hours (Occasional evening or weekend commitments related to donor engagement or events required) Travel Requirement: Some travel required to other SOURCES service regions (Langley, Oceanside, Prince George) and donor events. Salary: $71.43 - $74.18 per hour ($130,000–$135,000 per year) Start Date: ASAP SOURCES Community Resource Society is seeking an accomplished and strategic Executive Director, Philanthropy & Communications to join its Executive Leadership Team. This is a new senior leadership position that will provide strategic direction and oversight for all fundraising and communications activities for both SOURCES and the SOURCES Foundation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer and working closely with both the Society Board and the Foundation Board, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s long-term philanthropic and communications strategy. This role is ideal for a visionary leader who can balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution — someone who thrives on building sustainable donor pipelines, leading effective communications, and expanding community impact across multiple regions. Description of Position: Reporting to: President & CEO Strategic Leadership Provide overall leadership for SOURCES’ fund development and communications strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and growth plans. Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, working collaboratively with other executive directors to achieve organizational goals. Partner with the CEO, Society Board, and Foundation Board to build strong philanthropic relationships and enhance organizational visibility. Fund Development Lead a comprehensive fundraising program including: Major gifts and legacy/estate giving Monthly giving programs Corporate partnerships and sponsorships Grant strategy oversight Donor stewardship, recognition, and impact reporting Expand SOURCES’ geographic fundraising reach, with a phased strategy beginning in Langley, then Oceanside (Parksville), and Prince George. Collaborate directly with the CEO on major donor cultivation and solicitation. Communications & Brand Integrate internal and external communications to strengthen organizational culture and enhance brand awareness. Oversee the development of strategic messaging, content creation, media relations, and digital presence to support fundraising and community engagement goals. Oversee the development of a marketing strategy that supports all of the above. Operational Oversight Lead and mentor the Manager of Communications & Marketing and Coordinator, Communications & Administration. Provide oversight of contracted event planners and grant/database functions. Assess and recommend future team growth to support expanded fundraising strategies. Ensure DonorPerfect (or successor CRM) and data management systems support a coordinated and strategic donor engagement approach. Physical Demands of Job: Lifting/Pulling/Pushing - 25%, Walking/Moving Around - 25%, Sitting - 75%, Time Spent Outside - 25% Cognitive Demands of Job: Independent Work - 75%, Task Memorization - 75%, Changing Priorities/Deadlines - 100%, Writing/Reading - 100% Qualifications: Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in fund development and/or communications. Proven track record in major gift fundraising, strategic communications, and donor stewardship. Preferred experience in health, social services, or nonprofit sectors. Demonstrated ability to build donor pipelines, manage campaigns, and foster strategic partnerships. Strong leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and grow a department over time. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strategic and creative mindset. Comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders, boards, donors, and community partners. CFRE designation preferred.
