Overview
Raytheon Technologies is seeking an Advanced Technologies Section Leader within the Radar Mechanical Design Department. The department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of wind-season radar systems for land-based and shipboard applications. The Section Leader provides frontline management for a team of 10-15 engineers, including technical oversight, people development, training, performance management, and resource allocation. The role includes two-way communication with section members and serving as the day-to-day liaison to programs regarding job assignments, growth, performance, and recognition. Responsibilities also include coordinating staffing, forecasting, and optimizing resource utilization, and collaborating with the Department Manager to achieve hardware and Raytheon Engineering goals across all program phases.
What You Will Do
* Provide direct line management and leadership for 10-15 mechanical engineers.
* Serve as liaison to programs and IPTs concerning staffing, forecasting, and resource allocation.
* Oversee technical performance of individual contributors and engineering leads; provide technical guidance and project support throughout the product life cycle; support and oversee Technical Data Package development and peer reviews.
* Be responsible for employee technical development, leadership development, mentoring, training, and recognition.
* Advocate for your team’s career development and performance goals.
* Ensure adherence to Raytheon policies and procedures.
* Conduct performance reviews and support recruitment and retention efforts.
* Lead and support department and center initiatives to improve productivity and efficiency.
* Oversee mid to large sized cross-functional engineering teams as a technical execution lead through all phases of development from proposal and program start-up to requirements allocation, preliminary design, detailed development, and first article production.
* Engage in the performance development process for your team and meet commitments for schedule, cost, and technical goals.
* Mentor and grow lead engineers and junior engineers; advocate for your team’s development and performance.
* Perform management duties including performance development and appraisal, salary planning, manpower planning, and policy adherence.
* Act as the day-to-day liaison to programs regarding employee assignments, performance impact, and recognition.
* Assist with proposal preparation including estimating the scope of new engineering projects.
Qualifications You Must Have
* Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
* Prior leadership roles (frontline or project leader).
* Five years direct experience in hardware engineering design, development, and/or production support.
* Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
* Working knowledge or experience with radar and/or military electronics and systems.
* Strong presentation and technical writing skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
* Experience in process improvement advocacy and building a collaborative network to empower and motivate teams.
* Familiarity with Performance Development Processes and Engineering Labor Forecasting.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and multi-task effectively.
* Experience with technical and cost proposal development, technical risk management, and managing to cost and schedule for tasks.
* Broad knowledge within a technical discipline with awareness of its impact on other areas of the organization.

Onsite role definition: Onsite employees will work primarily onsite, including production and maintenance staff essential to product development.
Salary range for this role is 124,000 USD - 250,000 USD. The offer may consider factors such as role, function, responsibilities, experience, location, education, and key skills.
