ROLE OVERVIEW

We’re looking for a proactive, friendly, and approachable HR Advisor to join GRIDSERVE on a permanent basis. This is a great role for someone who enjoys being a people person, supporting employees, and helping create a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

You’ll be the go-to person for HR queries, welcoming colleagues and visitors in the office, and supporting HR processes across the employee lifecycle. You’ll also play a key role in HR project work, including process improvements, continued development of the HRIS, and other initiatives that enhance the employee experience.

This role works closely with the HR & Payroll Administrator and reports directly to the Senior HR Manager, supporting them in delivering an efficient and people-focused HR service across the business.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Employee Support & Engagement

* Be the friendly, approachable first point of contact for all HR queries from employees and managers.
* Welcome employees, visitors, and new starters to the London office, ensuring everyone feels valued and part of the team.
* Support initiatives that build a positive, inclusive workplace culture and foster a sense of community.

HR Support & Employee Relations

* Assist with day-to-day HR processes, such as absence management, flexible working requests, and basic performance or conduct matters.
* Work closely with the HR & Payroll Administrator to ensure accurate records and smooth HR operations.
* Support the Senior HR Manager in handling employee relations cases and implementing HR policies.
* Maintain accurate and confidential HR records in line with company policies and legislation.

Recruitment & Onboarding

* Support recruitment activities, including posting job adverts, coordinating interviews, and assisting with offers.
* Assist with onboarding new starters to ensure they feel welcomed, informed, and supported from day one.
* Work with the Senior HR Manager to continuously improve recruitment and onboarding processes.

HR Systems, Process Improvement & Projects

* Lead and support HR continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.
* Contribute to the ongoing development and optimisation of the HRIS, ensuring it is fit for purpose and user-friendly.
* Assist with ad-hoc HR projects, working collaboratively with the Senior HR Manager to deliver practical, people-focused solutions.

HR Data & Compliance

* Maintain up-to-date and accurate employee records across HR systems and electronic files.
* Produce regular HR reports and dashboards (e.g. headcount, turnover, absence) for review by the Senior HR Manager.
* Ensure all HR practices are compliant with internal policies, employment legislation, and relevant external standards (e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, and the Anti-Bribery Policy).

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Required Experience

* Previous experience in a busy HR support or junior advisory role.
* Experience supporting the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, contractual changes, and leavers.
* Exposure to UK payroll processes, ideally working with an outsourced payroll provider, and comfortable liaising with a payroll administrator.
* Experience handling routine employee relations matters such as absence management and flexible working requests.
* Demonstrated involvement in HR projects, such as HRIS development, system implementations, or process improvement.
* Familiarity with UK employment legislation and HR best practice (desirable).
* Experience working in an SME or fast-paced, project-led environment (desirable).

Required Skills and Abilities

* Friendly, approachable, and a natural people person.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain things clearly.
* Organised and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
* Proactive and willing to take ownership of tasks.
* Confidence supporting HR queries and internal communications.
* Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams) and intranet platforms.
* Ability to support HR improvement projects and contribute practical ideas.

Required Qualifications and Certifications

* CIPD Level 5 qualified or currently working towards it (desirable).
