Social Worker – East Learning Disability Team (Rhondda Cynon Taf) Location: Eastern area of Rhondda Cynon Taf, covering approximately Pontypridd through to Aberdare and Hirwaun. Salary : £29.14 per hour UMBRELLA (£22.20 PAYE) Working style: Remote with 1 day in the office per week Hours: 37 Hours per week Contract: Initially 3 months - potential to extend We are seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the East Learning Disability Team at Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council supporting adults across the eastern area of Rhondda Cynon Taf, covering approximately Pontypridd through to Aberdare and Hirwaun. About the Role You will work with adults with a learning disability to safeguard and promote wellbeing through high-quality assessment, care planning, and review. The role requires confident, autonomous practice alongside strong partnership working with multi-disciplinary colleagues and partner agencies. The team operates primarily remotely, with one office-based day per week. Key Responsibilities Undertake assessments in line with the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 Develop, implement, monitor, and review care and support plans focused on personal outcomes Carry out Mental Capacity Assessments and apply the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 Assess and manage risk in a balanced, person-centred way that promotes independence, choice, and co-production Safeguard adults and promote their wellbeing through effective social work practice Work collaboratively with families, carers, and partner agencies using a multi-disciplinary approach Maintain accurate and up-to-date electronic case records, assessments, plans, and reviews in line with policy and procedure Travel independently across the service area as required Candidate Requirements Qualified Social Worker with relevant registration Experience working with adults with learning disabilities Strong assessment, care planning, and safeguarding experience Sound knowledge of relevant Welsh and UK legislation Experience completing Mental Capacity Assessments Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong recording and report-writing skills Ability to travel across the service area If you are seeking a new locum role and meet the requirements above, please apply today.
