The Role
Working closely with solicitors and legal advisers, the Paralegal will support the day‑to‑day progression of childcare cases, undertaking both legal and administrative tasks with professionalism, accuracy and strong time‑management skills. The position requires adherence to compliance and quality standards and calls for a high level of initiative, organisation and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver consistently high standards of client care in a professional and personable manner.
* Maintain confidentiality and ensure the security of all client and firm documentation.
* Prepare legal documents, including applications, statements and forms.
* Conduct research and assist with investigations into relevant areas of law.
* Comply with Solicitors Accounts Rules and the Solicitors Code of Conduct.
* Communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues across the firm.
* Foster positive working relationships with external organisations and institutions.
* Support administrative staff when required.
* Take responsibility for ongoing training and professional development.
* Contribute to promoting the firm’s services and professional reputation.
* Assist with file management under the supervision of fee earners.
* Complete Public Funding forms when requested.
* Attend court hearings, meetings and conferences as required.
* Initiate contact with prospective clients, assess eligibility for public funding and provide procedural information.
* Open new files in accordance with internal procedures.
* Work with fee earners on case administration, including filing, typing and photocopying.
Person Specification
* Strong computer and word‑processing skills.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
* Some previous experience working in a legal environment.
