Role Overview
Contractual hours: 37. You will be part of the Corporate Finance Team, responsible for coordinating the council’s capital and revenue budget processes across the financial year from setting to monitoring and closing the accounts.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and coordinate core financial processes such as budget setting and monitoring, ensuring robust processes are in place.
* Maintain and forecast complex centrally held budgets, e.g., Housing Benefit Subsidy.
* Contribute to cross‑council working groups to create innovative solutions to financial pressures.
* Play a role in the council’s transformation activity, including the review of finance’s own processes.
Qualifications & Experience
* CCAB Accounting qualification or equivalent.
* Strong technical finance expertise and ability to handle complex data.
* Experience coordinating large financial processes such as budget setting, monitoring, and financial reporting.
* Strong understanding of financial ledgers, controls and data integrity.
* Ability to manage and quality‑assure complex calculations with material financial impact.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to explain technical issues clearly to diverse audiences.
* Collaborative approach, working constructively and inclusively with finance colleagues and service managers.

Your starting salary will be pro‑rata if the position is less than 37 hours or term‑time only.
Your contractual location will be the designated council office for your team, and travel to and from your contractual location will be at your own expense.
