Invictus UK 2027 Ltd (IUK27) is a registered company and charity that has been set up to
deliver the Invictus Games Birmingham in the summer of 2027. The team is based either at
Borough High Street, London, or Birmingham City Centre / the NEC.

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 is a senior
leadership role focused on the complex operations, finance, and logistics required to deliver
the Games in line with our vision: to deliver the most cohesive, celebrated, and sustainable
Games in its history.
The role reports directly to the CEO and sits alongside the Chief Strategy Officer (responsible
for impact and governance), the Chief Commercial Officer (income, commercial and
marketing), and the Chief Financial Officer (finance and corporate services). A layer of
Directors leads across Operations, Sport, Impact and Sustainability, Communications and
Engagement, Commercial, Special Projects, and Programme Management.
Key Responsibilities
• Leadership: Building and motivating efficient teams, with a focus on sport and
operations
• Operations: Overseeing complex delivery, logistics, budgets, event management, and
ensuring operational readiness
• Strategic thinking: Aligning operations and sport with the vision for the Games, and
driving sustainability and accessibility goals
• Project management: Developing clear plans, managing timelines, and delivering to
high standards
• Financial management: Overseeing budgets, including operations and sport
There is flexibility to adapt the role specification to suit the experience of the Chief
Operating Officer, for example in relation to broadcast and ceremonies.
Required Experience
• Delivery of major sporting events
• Experience of managing budgets
• Planning and stakeholder management experience
Desired experience
• Experience of broadcast, cultural programmes, or ceremonial events.
