The Vacancy
The role is for 9 hours per week and fixed term to 19 July 2026. The working pattern is Tuesday: 4:15pm -7:00pm, Thursday: 4:00pm - 7:00pm and alternate Saturdays: 10am -5:00pm with 30 mins lunch.
We have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and organised individual to join our Reference Services team. This is a varied and interesting role where the successful candidate will make a key contribution to facilitating access to the Library's collections to both remote and onsite individuals.
You will work as part of a team of Reference Services Assistants delivering a high level of customer service to visitors to the General Reading Room, assisting with their enquiries and ensuring that any requested collection material is properly tracked through the Alma library management system.
Additionally you will striving to promote and facilitate access to the Library's collections and services to patrons from across the world. This will include providing a high quality enquiry service, using LibAnswers to respond to enquiries and live chats in a timely and accurate fashion as well as assisting with displays, tours and outreach opportunities that arise.
We are looking for an applicant with excellent communication and team-working skills, who is focussed on working collaboratively to deliver high quality outcomes for the Library.
This is a varied and unpredictable role which requires a flexible attitude and good attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to work unsupervised.
