We are working with a well‑established engineering manufacturer specialising in highly specialised, heavy‑duty equipment used in demanding environments. Due to continued growth and investment, they are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong experience in hydraulic systems and mobile or industrial machinery.
This is an opportunity to join a close‑knit engineering team working on complex, bespoke products where reliability and performance are critical.
The Role
You will be responsible for the design and development of mechanical systems, with a particular focus on hydraulics and associated components. The role will involve working across the full product lifecycle, from concept through to production.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing hydraulic systems and mechanical assemblies for heavy‑duty equipment
* Producing detailed 3D models and engineering drawings
* Supporting prototype development, testing, and validation
* Collaborating with manufacturing and production teams
* Ensuring designs meet relevant industry and safety standards
* Contributing to continuous improvement and product development initiatives
About You
We are looking for engineers with a strong practical understanding of machinery used in demanding environments.
You will ideally have:
* Experience in hydraulic system design (essential)
* Background in heavy machinery, off‑highway vehicles, defence, or industrial equipment
* Proficiency with 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Inventor or similar)
* Understanding of fabrication, welding, and mechanical assemblies
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable:
* Experience with mobile equipment or tracked/wheeled machinery
* Knowledge of relevant standards and compliance requirements
