We’re looking for five experienced strategic leaders to play a key role in preparing the organisation for Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). These are high‑profile roles supporting senior leadership team to ensure we are fully prepared for major transformation.
About the Role
You will act as the coordination point for all LGR activity within one of five directorates, leading business performance, driving transformation, and ensuring strong governance, communication and readiness across all services.
Key areas of responsibility include:
1. Directorate business strategy and performance management
2. Policy development (including Equalities, Diversity & Inclusion)
3. Governance, forward planning and decision‑making support
4. Service planning and readiness assessment
5. Partnership management and cross‑Council working
6. Internal and external communications and engagement planning
7. Risk management, emergency planning and business continuity
8. Leading key projects aligned to LGR workstreams
You will also line‑manage the Performance & Quality Manager.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can demonstrate:
9. Senior leadership experience in a complex organisation
10. Proven success driving change, service improvement and innovation
11. Strong political awareness and the ability to work confidently with senior officers and elected members
12. Experience creating and delivering strategic vision, with excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
13. A deep commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
14. Experience of policy development, governance, project leadership and performance frameworks
15. Ability to influence, collaborate and work across services to deliver shared goals
