An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Clinical Coding Service, Swansea Bay University Health Board for the permanent position of a Clinical Coding Service Improvement Lead.

The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong leadership and service improvement skills and provide evidence of managing successful teams. Having a high level of clinical coding skills.


Main duties of the job

A key requirement of the role is for the post holder to have the ACC Accredited Clinical Coder qualification (UK)

A key requirement for the role is for the post holder to use skills and experience as an accredited Clinical Coder to operationally lead and Improve the Clinical Coding Service.

The post holder will need to have management experience and have excellent management and leadership skills

To be forward thinking, innovative, creative, and to continuously strive to lead and to make service improvements across the Clinical Coding Service.

The post holder will also need to be a champion for digital technology and recognise the value and benefits of digital solutions in supporting the current and future developments of the Clinical Coding Service.

Person Specification


Qualifications and Experience

* Degree level or equivalent management experience
* National Clinical Coding Qualification (UK)
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Ability to analyse and interpret complex medical terminology
* Understanding the impact on information reporting such as Clinical Outcomes and benchmarking
* Understanding of NHS Wales Information
* Ability to make decisions in accordance with agreed protocols
* Work to timescales
* Willingness to learn new facts, put into practice
* Work autonomously or part of a team
* Service improvement Qualification
* Understanding of service improvement and transformation
* Experience of leading and managing teams


Skills

* Standards and Clinical Coding policy
* Willingness to support and mentor staff undertaking the ACC Qualification
* Understanding and experience of implementing data standards
* Experience of leading and /or supporting change management across teams
* Experience of working within the NHS or other healthcare setting
* Previous experience of dealing with complex and confidential issues.
* Communicate on all levels of staff and occasionally patients
* Excellent oral, numerical and written skills Analytical and judgement skills
* Experience within information/informatics environment
* Experience of report preparation and delivery
* Ability to work hours flexibly
