Interim Project Engineer - Capital Projects & Industrial Engineering Duration: 12-Month Contract Day Rate: £520 per day (Umbrella, Inside IR35) Client: Global Manufacturing Environment Location: Hybrid and in Fife An industry-leading global organisation is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to lead the delivery of complex capital engineering projects across a large-scale industrial operation. This is a high-impact role suited to an electrically biased engineer with strong project delivery capability, technical leadership skills, and experience operating within regulated manufacturing or industrial environments. The Role: You'll take ownership of engineering projects from concept through to commissioning and handover, managing budgets, timelines, technical delivery, contractors, and stakeholder engagement throughout the full project lifecycle. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you'll help drive operational improvement, engineering compliance, safety performance, and sustainability initiatives while delivering projects that support long-term business objectives. Key Responsibilities Lead capital engineering projects from design through implementation and handover Manage project plans, budgets, schedules, risks, and change control activity Translate operational requirements into clear technical engineering specifications Ensure compliance with industrial safety, construction, and engineering standards Lead design reviews, contractor management, and installation validation activities Drive a strong safety culture across all project phases and contractor operations Support incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions Identify opportunities for efficiency improvement, sustainability, and cost reduction Provide regular project reporting, forecasting, and governance updates Collaborate with operational, procurement, finance, and leadership teams Requirements: Strong project engineering experience within industrial, manufacturing, FMCG, energy, or process environments Electrical engineering background preferred, although other disciplines considered Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in fast-paced settings Excellent stakeholder and contractor management capability Strong understanding of engineering compliance, safety, and construction regulations Experience reviewing technical drawings, specifications, and engineering designs Commercial awareness including budgeting, supplier management, and financial forecasting Familiarity with tools such as MS Project, SAP, SharePoint, and AutoCAD Qualifications & Experience Degree, HND, or HNC in Engineering or related discipline Chartered Engineer status or progress toward chartership highly desirable Project Management qualification (APM PMQ or equivalent) advantageous NEBOSH or similar safety qualification beneficial This is an urgent requirement - if interested, please apply ASAP
