Responsibilities
As a Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Midwife you will provide high quality and safe midwifery care to women, birthing people and their families whose pregnancy is complicated by diabetes.
You will develop a high level of relevant, expert knowledge and skills and use them to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant people.
You will work alongside the Diabetes Specialist Midwife Lead and in partnership with the multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care based on a patient's individual needs, providing a link between the maternity service and the other services involved in diabetes care.
You may be required to deputise for the Band 7 Diabetes Specialist Midwife and will be expected to act as a resource for diabetes specialist knowledge to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
The role will bring a proactive contribution to service development, supporting audit, quality improvement initiatives and staff training to continually enhance the quality and safety of maternity services.
Qualifications
Band 6 Diabetes Specialist Midwife with specialist knowledge and clinical expertise in both midwifery and diabetes care.
Excellent communication skills to provide clear education, advice, and reassurance to women and their families to promote safe self‑management and positive outcomes.
Collaborative working within the multidisciplinary team including obstetricians, endocrinologists, and diabetes specialist nurses.
