Job Description:
Your company
Hays has worked closely with this national company for several years to recruit for several positions in the Building Services team across the UK. They provide single, multiple, and full multidisciplinary services within the public and private sectors across most industry disciplines. A key factor within the organization is sustainability, providing an innovative service with a focus on reducing their clients' carbon footprint. They specialize in sectors such as commercial, housing (social and residential), and education, among others.
Your new role
As the Senior Building Service Engineer, you will provide engineering support to the practice with expertise in M&E engineering in the built environment, including design and project management responsibilities. You will work on a large client basis, developing and maintaining relationships. You will ensure all projects are completed to high technical standards, on time, and within budget, including fee earning activities and scheme design where needed. You will liaise with statutory authorities regarding building services and work with the team leader to develop sound engineering solutions and cost-effective designs.
You will develop detailed specifications and drawings based on client briefs, review tenders, prepare tender reports and recommendations, and handle fee invoicing. Opportunities to attend networking events to secure new business will also be available.
You will project manage site works, monitor them against specifications, conduct inspections, and submit condition reports. You will meet annual and monthly fee targets and oversee team work commitments, collaborating with other teams to ensure project delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
Excellent communication skills, relationship-building abilities, a strong work ethic, and motivation are essential. Educationally, a degree or master's in engineering is required, along with membership of the Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers or the Energy Institute, or plans to achieve Chartered Engineer status. Proven experience with IES (Mechanical) or Amtech (Electrical) design software, AutoCAD, and Revit is necessary. Knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, CIBSE guides, and building regulations is also required. A full UK driving license and access to a vehicle are necessary for site visits.
What you'll get in return
The salary for this position is up to £65,000, based out of the Cambridge site. Benefits include fully expensed social events, personal growth opportunities, flexible or remote working hours, and participation in schemes like Employee Referral, Death in Service, and Health Cash Plan. Monthly and annual targets, both monetary and non-monetary, are also part of the package.
Please note: If you are not a passport holder of the country for the vacancy, you might need a work permit. Check our Blog for more information.
