The Opportunity
We are seeking an Art Director to help bring Commune’s visual world to life across every touchpoint — from our website and social channels to campaigns, retail, and packaging. This role is both conceptual and hands-on, ideal for a designer–art director who cares deeply about craft, detail, and consistency, and who’s excited to grow within a collaborative creative team.
Working closely with our Head of Brand Content and Creative Director / Co-Founder, you’ll help execute seasonal campaigns, product launches, and always-on content, while ensuring the brand’s visual language is thoughtful, cohesive, and expressive across digital and physical spaces.
This is a highly collaborative role requiring regular in‑office attendance. Initially, you must be in our Somerset office at least three days per week. Once our London office is fully set up mid-2026, the role will be based in-office there.
What You’ll Do
* Help shape and execute the visual expression of the Commune brand across:
o Website and e-commerce (Shopify)
o Social and video content
o Performance marketing assets
o Retail environments and experiences
o Packaging and printed materials
* Translate creative direction and brand strategy into strong visual executions across channels
* Own and contribute to the art direction of seasonal campaigns, product launches, and key brand moments
* Partner closely with the Head of Brand Content to bring editorial, social, and video storytelling to life
* Collaborate with the Creative Director / Co-Founder to execute and evolve the brand’s visual language
* Plan, art direct, and facilitate photoshoots and video shoots, including:
* Developing concepts, mood boards, references, and shot lists
* Supporting location, prop, and talent sourcing
* Briefing and working with photographers, filmmakers, stylists, models, and other collaborators
* Ensuring shoots deliver versatile assets for web, social, retail, and campaigns
* Design digital-first creative with a strong understanding of layout, typography, UX, and motion
* Support the creation and upkeep of visual guidelines and templates
* Contribute to retail and packaging design with attention to materiality, finish, and luxury detail
* Balance creative ambition with practical execution, particularly in e-commerce and performance contexts
Who You Are
* Minimum 5 years of experience in art direction or digital design roles, ideally within luxury, lifestyle, fashion, beauty, or retail brands
* Demonstrated experience planning and art directing photoshoots or content productions
* Keen interest in all things design, including product design, fashion, art, interiors, and architecture
* Strong digital design skills, with experience designing for websites, e-commerce, and social platforms
* Proficiency in Figma for collaborative design, iteration, and handoff across digital projects
* Familiarity with Shopify or e-commerce environments
* A strong visual eye aligned with Commune's aesthetic, and a solid foundation in typography, composition, and visual hierarchy
* Comfort working across still and moving image
* Curious and informed about design trends, tools, and emerging digital approaches
* Collaborative mindset and experience working closely with content, brand, and creative leads
* An interest in brand-building over time, not just one-off campaigns
* Highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects and timelines
