SEN Teaching Assistant (Reception) – Barking
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our Reception team in Barking. This role will involve working closely with high-needs children who have autism, providing tailored support to help them access learning, develop social skills, and achieve their individual goals.
Responsibilities
* Full-time position, based in Reception.
* Supporting pupils with autism and additional needs, including children who may engage in behaviours such as nibbling.
* Working under the direction of the class teacher and SENCO to adapt learning activities and provide 1:1 or small group support.
* Helping to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment.
* Assisting with personal care and supporting emotional regulation when required.
What We’re Looking For
* Experience working with children with autism and high needs (EYFS experience desirable).
* Patience, resilience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents.
* A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN to thrive and reach their potential.

Location: Barking
Start Date: 1 October
Salary: 90 - 100 pounds per day (depending on experience)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
