Job summary Advanced Clinical Respiratory Physiologist (Band 7) Full-time (37.5 hrs) An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Respiratory Physiologist to join our busy and dynamic team at Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Our Respiratory Physiology service delivers a wide range of routine and complex respiratory diagnostic investigations, alongside a busy sleep and home ventilation service. We are seeking a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills. You must have a minimum of five years' experience working as a Clinical Respiratory Physiologist, with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise your workload effectively, and contribute positively to a team environment. You will also be expected to support the development of junior staff. Evidence of continuing professional development and experience across a broad range of respiratory diagnostic investigations is essential. Applicants must hold a BSc in Clinical Science/Physiology or equivalent, along with appropriate prior experience at Senior Clinical Respiratory Physiologist level. Eligibility for RCCP/AHCS registration is essential. This is a full-time position. Main duties of the job The post holder will undertake a wide range of highly specialist diagnostic respiratory investigations, providing expert and clinically accurate reports in accordance with local and national guidelines. They will deliver advanced knowledge and skills across a broad spectrum of respiratory investigations and communicate results effectively within the multidisciplinary team. They will provide training and support to all relevant members of the MDT in the delivery of both routine and complex respiratory investigations. The post holder will work closely with respiratory consultants, specialist nurses, and other medical colleagues, offering clinical leadership and contributing to ongoing service development. They will also provide expert domiciliary NIV knowledge and training to the wider MDT, working in partnership with the Lead Sleep and Home NIV clinician. The role includes facilitating the efficient and effective management of resources within the respiratory physiology service, as well as contributing to both the strategic development and daily operational management of the department. The post holder will act as a clinical role model, serving as a resource for staff and demonstrating a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and clinical excellence to ensure the highest standards of patient care.
