Clinical Engineering Site Lead / Assistant Manager RSCH-PRH
Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Salary: A4C Band 7 £46148 - £52809 per annum
We are looking to appoint a Technical Site Lead / Assistant Manager to oversee daily operational management of the Clinical Engineering Services and teams at the Royal Sussex County and Princess Royal Hospital Sites. The post holder will support the Clinical Engineering Services Manager as part of a wider UHSussex service across our other sites.
The successful candidate will be highly competent, dependable with excellent organisational and team leading skills. You should have experience of working under pressure whilst ensuring accuracy and quality in your role. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. You will be fully technically conversant with the repair and management of a wide range of modern medical devices and have a proven background for interacting at all levels with engineering and clinical colleagues. Previous experience of leading teams and evidence of technical work will be required, together with a Degree in Electronic engineering or an equivalent level of knowledge and experience. There will be a requirement for cross site working.

Main duties of the job
Provide day to day technical operational management for Clinical Engineering Services at RSCH and PRH to ensure that ongoing specialised clinical technical services for preventative maintenance, servicing, calibration, inspection, and repair to a wide range of complex and patient-connected medical equipment.
Provide line management support to the Engineering Technicians
Regular communication with the wider UHSussex Clinical Engineering Team and site leads to ensure smooth response to all customer enquiries.
Provide monthly key performance indicators for planned preventative and demand work for onward central reporting of performance and output.
Regular use of the Clinical Engineering Database to conduct audits for equipment accuracy and to ensure any changes are communicated to the database administrator in a timely manner. Production of reports using standard database exporting techniques. This is also required on occasion to be interactive with the clinical departments.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Support action required for safety notices and hazard bulletins as well as consulting with relevant government organisations or external agencies, to report device related incidents. (e.g., MHRA, National Patient Safety Agency)
Consult with manufacturers to obtain technical and clinical information. Provide feedback on equipment performance to Clinical Engineering Manager, team colleagues, clinical staff, and external organisations as appropriate.
Provide technical advice to clinical and other staff groups as required.
Deputise for the Clinical Engineering Services Manager when required.
Provide technical expertise and assistance to other team members within the Facilities and Estates Division
To ensure HR policy within the service is managed or escalated appropriately, this includes operational management for staff including absence management, time keeping, personnel issues and other situations as they arise.
Manage delegated appraisal for all staff and ensure PDP is followed up as required.
Motivate and develop technical staff and act as role model for Clinical Engineering staff.

* Academic qualifications / or equivalence asper PS
* General knowledge of electronic workshop practice
* Evidence of previous experience of managing a small or medium team
* Broad knowledge of medical device operation and management
* Attendance on specialist training courses for the maintenance and repair of a wide range of medical devices
