An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated experienced midwife to join our Maternity team as an Infant Feeding Lead Midwife on a Band 7 fixed-term secondment (12 months) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
We are seeking a dynamic and committed midwife with a passion for improving outcomes for women, birthing people, babies and their families through the promotion, protection and support of breastfeeding and responsive infant feeding.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across maternity, neonatal and community teams to ensure consistent, high-quality, evidence-based infant feeding care and to support the Trust in maintaining UNICEF UK Baby Friendly Initiative (BFI) accreditation.
You will have proven experience in postnatal and inpatient maternity care and demonstrate confidence in supporting women and families with complex feeding needs. Experience in leadership, mentorship and education is essential, alongside excellent communication, organisational and IT skills.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide expert clinical leadership and support to staff in all areas of maternity and neonatal services.
2. Lead on staff education and training in line with BFI standards.
3. Promote integrated, family-centred care through partnership working with community teams, health visitors and local organisations.
4. Use audit and feedback to drive quality improvement and sustain best practice.
5. Represent the Trust in local, regional and national infant feeding networks.

Education
Essential criteria
6. Registered Midwife (BSc or equivalent alternative)
7. >3years experience post qualification
8. Mentorship Qualification/ Practice Assessor training
9. Evidence of further education in specialist area
Desirable criteria
10. Internationally Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC)
11. NIPE Qualification
12. Quality Improvement related training/qualification
13. Completed specific training in breastfeeding e.g. UNICEF Course
Experience
Essential criteria
14. Competent in providing midwifery care in all areas
15. Staff line management experience
16. Experience of breast-feeding promotion
17. Experience of facilitating teaching to staff, women/birthing people and families
