Principal Clinical Psychologist B8A – NHS Ayrshire & Arran
This is a fixed‑term contract for 3 months, up to 37 hours per week (part‑time hours will also be considered). The salary is pro‑rata for part‑time. Shift pattern: Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm.
The post holder will be based at Gartnavel Royal Hospital, providing services to four acute inpatient wards and the PICU. Services include multidisciplinary teams delivering therapies and a therapeutic activity programme for adult inpatients. The psychology service covers NHS operations in the North West Sector of Glasgow City and West Dunbartonshire, providing clinical governance, supervision, appraisal and CPD for psychology staff, and supporting staff in primary and secondary care mental health teams.
The Post Holder will:
* Provide specialist clinical psychology assessment and brief interventions for a caseload of patients within the acute inpatient wards and PICU.
* Provide neuropsychological assessments for in‑patients when required for differential diagnosis.
* Provide case consultation, care plans, advice and supervision to support staff in delivering psychological approaches for acute in‑patients and PICU patients.
* Take a lead role in staff training and in developing psychological intervention competencies within the ward team.
* Attend relevant MDT meetings as a member of the multi‑disciplinary team and provide psychological perspective/expert advice.
* Contribute to the development and delivery of the inpatient psychological therapies group programme.
* Contribute to service development by supporting the roll‑out of structured psychological therapies for specific inpatient populations.
* Provide psychological support to the ward team, such as reflective practice groups.
* Provide professional and clinical supervision to qualified Clinical Psychologists, Trainee Clinical Psychologists and Assistant Psychologists, as required.
* May provide clinical psychology input across the service area and at different bases, as required.
