If your answer to these questions is yes an exciting opportunity has arisen for a newly created post to work as a research assistant within the diabetes, metabolic and endocrine research team. We are looking for someone with relevant clinical experience and excellent communication skills with the ability to work independently but also as part of a team.


Main duties of the job

Assist the nursing team in caring for participants taking part in clinical trials

Carry out clinical observations, ECGs, phlebotomy with supervision from registered nurse

Be a first point of contact for participants of trials.

Discuss the study with potential participants and consent to simple trials

Assist with lab sampling and packaging, sending of samples

Entering clinical data to relevant databases

Assisting research team with administrative tasks

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

We are a small and supportive team. This post would suit someone with several years of clinical experience with the ability and enthusiasm to learn a very different role within clinical research. Although it would be helpful, research experience is not essential as training can be given to someone with the necessary personal qualities.

qualifications

* NVQ level 2 or 5 GCSEs
* Care Certificate
* GCP certificate
* A levels or equivalent


Experience

* Extensive relevant clinical care work experience
* Experience of working in an NHS environment
* Experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Previous research experience
* Understanding of diabetes metabolic and endocrine disorders


Personal skills

* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Ability to organise, prioritise and co ordinate workload, working to tight deadlines
* Experience and Ability to work as part of a team
* Willingness to learn new skills and techniques
* Aligned to values of the NHS and the Trust
* Conducts themselves in a professional manner at all times
* positive, flexible and enthusiastic approach to work
* self motivated with ability to work on own initiative


technical skills

* Computer literate with experience of working with microsoft office packages
* ability to manage different databases to enter research data
* experience of database entry for clinical trials
