Our EA Practice Nurses play a vital role as part of a busyteam. In this position, you will support us with achieving our goals, whilealso contributing to the overall success of our organisation.

You will beexpected to provide excellent practice nursing care directly to patients, and supportthe development of innovative and high-quality nursing practice, offeringadvice on service improvements based upon your experience and knowledge of theneeds of patients.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

Clinical

To work within the multidisciplinary team to meet common goals.

To provide family planning advice

To administer IM Contraceptive injections as per protocol

To administer childhood immunisations according to the national vaccination schedule

Monitoring of ongoing treatments.

Perform cervical cytologyscreening.

To provide opportunistic screening and advice on patients health.

To assist with planning and evaluating patientcare.

Clinical measurements including blood pressure recording, blood glucose monitoring and ECGs

The administration of subcutaneous and intramuscular injections

Undertake wound care and appropriate management of wounds.

To provide HealthPromotion in areassuch as weight, smoking and alcohol.

Teaching patients and their family self-care where appropriate.

Assisting and or chaperoning the general practitioner.

To work consistently within your own professional standards, maintaining an awareness of evidence based and currentbest practice.

To ensure appropriate registration with your own professional body.

To participate fully in the annual appraisal process and maintain own personalprofessional development.

To participate in clinical supervision

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene to infection controlstandard

To support the maintenance of appropriatestock items in fridges and clinical areas and to adhere to cold chain policies

Job responsibilities

The Enhanced Access service operates on behalf of PCNsacross Coventry, Nuneaton and Atherstone, run from local General Practices.

As one of our EA GPNs you will be expected to undertakethe following as part of their role:

Work independently to provide excellentpractice nursing care directlyto patients;

Participate in the delivery of routine surveillance and screening;

Participate in the management of long-term conditions, contraceptiveservices, wound care, immunisations and vaccinations;

Support the development of innovative and high-qualitynursing practice, offeringadvice on service improvements based upon your experience and knowledgeof the needs of patients;

Provide General Practice Nursing duties on behalf of the patientsGeneral Practice and PCN.

To work consistently within your own professional standards, maintaining an awareness of evidence based and currentbest practice.

To ensure appropriate registration with your own professional body.

To participate fully in the annual appraisal process and maintain own personalprofessional development.

To participate in clinical supervision

Maintain cleanliness and hygiene to infection controlstandards

To participate in the maintenance of medical equipment, ensuringappropriate interim checks arecarried out and equipment is appropriately calibrated, and faults are reportedin line with policy.

To support the maintenance of appropriatestock items in fridges and clinical areas and to adhere to cold chain policies.


Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered first level nurse
* Registered with NMC
* Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification or willingness to work towards


Experience

* Experience of working in community / primary care
* Management of long-term conditions
* Involvement in implementing and using protocols and clinical guidelines
* Experience of audit
* Participation in quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking
