We are seeking an enthusiastic, well-motivated, and skilled Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Orthopaedic Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy Integrated Team. The team works across all ward areas within the Orthopaedic directorate.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for humanising patient recovery, a proactive approach, and strong problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, pressured environment is essential, along with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to support team members.
You will possess broad clinical expertise across multiple settings and be responsible for conducting occupational therapy assessments, interventions, discharge planning, and stepping down patients with complex diagnoses. The role involves working independently and collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered services, setting holistic short- and long-term goals and rehabilitation plans.
There will be opportunities to develop acute skills and knowledge while embedding the role of occupational therapy in this setting. You will participate in service improvement initiatives, new models of working, clinical audits, and continuing professional development.
Occupational Therapists perform independent, holistic assessments of individuals' needs related to independent living and occupational performance. Based on these assessments, intervention is provided. The post involves delivering specialist occupational therapy services for a defined caseload of patients with complex needs, including chronic and life-limiting conditions.
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner responsible for assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of medical patients, providing advice to multi-agency professionals, junior staff, and students. Responsibilities include supervising junior staff and students, assisting in planning and evaluating the OT service, and acting as a source of expertise with advanced knowledge and skills.
