Overview

Registered Manager - Children and Young People

Location: Blaenau Gwent

Salary: £44,000-£46,000 per annum

Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (flexible rota including on-call duties)

Contract: Permanent


Responsibilities

* Lead and manage the delivery of high-quality care in line with Welsh Government's Core Aims and the Wellbeing Act 2014
* Ensure compliance with safeguarding protocols, RISCA, and inspection frameworks
* Act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer and oversee all safeguarding practices
* Manage staff recruitment, induction, supervision, appraisal, and development
* Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and restorative justice within the home
* Oversee care planning, key working, and behavioural management strategies
* Maintain accurate records and ensure timely reporting for reviews and inspections
* Manage budgets, petty cash, and financial reporting
* Ensure health and safety compliance and promote a positive risk-taking culture
* Foster a homely, inclusive environment that supports emotional and physical wellbeing
* Lead on strategic planning, service development, and continuous improvement
* Promote professional standards and uphold the values of high-quality residential care


Essential Requirements

* Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management in Children's Health and Social Care
* Registration with Social Care Wales and the DBS Update Service
* Minimum 2 years' management experience in a residential children's home
* Strong knowledge of safeguarding, RISCA, and HR procedures
* Experience supporting children with Autism, EBD, CSE, and mental health needs
* Full UK Driving Licence (manual)
* IT literate (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel)
