Chief Financial Officer – Specialist Lending & Investment
Location: Southampton (office-based, small team environment)
We are partnering with a well-established, niche financial services business operating in a specialist segment of the mortgage and secured lending market. The company provides tailored lending solutions secured against UK property, while delivering consistent, risk-adjusted returns to investors. With a strong focus on quality, transparency, and long-term relationships, the business is poised for continued growth and diversification.
The Role
This is a key leadership role within a small, highly experienced team. As Chief Financial Officer, you will take full ownership of the financial strategy, governance, and operational management of the company, ensuring its continued financial health and regulatory compliance. Working closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership, you will help steer the business through both day-to-day operations and strategic growth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver the financial strategy aligned with the company’s growth plans.
* Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial reporting.
* Provide commercial and financial insight to inform board-level decision-making.
* Maintain robust internal controls, risk management, and compliance frameworks.
* Lead the finance, risk & compliance, and people functions, developing capability across the team.
* Manage relationships with auditors, regulators, tax advisors, and banking partners.
* Support strategic projects, including diversification, acquisitions, and product development.
About You
You will be a professionally qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant senior-level finance experience, ideally gained in financial services, real estate, or lending. A proven ability to operate in a regulated environment is important, along with strong commercial acumen and the ability to think strategically while remaining hands-on in a small-team setting.
You will be comfortable leading across multiple functions, influencing at board level, and managing external stakeholder relationships. Experience in driving operational efficiency and supporting business diversification will be highly valued.
