We are looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator to support the continued development and smooth running of our health and safety systems. This role plays an important part in ensuring our workplace remains safe, compliant, and well organised, supporting colleagues across the business through clear documentation, robust processes, and proactive coordination.
Based at our Head Office in South Newton near Salisbury, the role will primarily focus on health & safety administration, compliance, and record management, with occasional visits to project sites to assist with safety administration and coordination.
The role
Working closely with colleagues across the business, you will help maintain and develop the systems that support our health and safety standards, ensuring documentation, reporting, and processes remain accurate, organised, and effective.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
* Maintaining and updating health & safety policies, procedures, and documentation
* Managing the subcontractor accreditation process, including enquiries, renewals, reviews, and record keeping
* Recording accidents, incidents, and near misses, and assisting with investigations to ensure corrective actions are tracked and implemented
* Preparing incident reports, monthly health & safety reports, and tracking key safety performance indicators
* Maintaining registers for risk assessments, method statements, COSHH assessments, and safety procedures, including Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
* Preparing documentation for internal and external audits and supporting SSIP renewal
* Assisting with the annual review meeting with our competent advisors
* Producing monthly Working Safely toolbox talks and supporting employee health & safety inductions
* Coordinating site visits by competent advisors and managing the Site Visit Checklist procedure with Contracts Managers, including preparation of information and distribution of reports
* Supporting the coordination of fire drills and emergency preparedness
* Acting as a point of contact for internal health & safety queries and working with teams across the company to maintain high safety standards

Desirable experience
While not essential, the following would be advantageous:
* Knowledge of health & safety legislation and good practice
* NEBOSH National General Certificate or equivalent
* Experience supporting health & safety, compliance, or facilities functions
* Familiarity with the construction industry
* Membership of, or working towards membership of, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH)
* A full UK driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) is essential, as travel to sites may be required.
