We have a fabulous opportunity to join Derbyshire Healthcare's Research and Development team based at the Kingsway hospital site in Derby for a 12 month pilot.

At DHCFT the research team wants to enable everyone working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) to be research active. This includes Peer Support Workers.

We are seeking an experienced Peer Support Worker to join our teamto co-design Peer Research roles to be successful in supporting research delivery. This post would ideally suit an individual who already has a minimum of one-year experience in a Peer Support role.

The focus of the role is on Research Delivery which is the part of the research process that is about,

* Making sure health research happens in real-life healthcare settings like DHCFT
* Informing patients and staff about relevant research studies that they can take part in.
* Inviting people to take part and collecting research data safely and ethically.
* Ensuring studies run smoothly and follow regulations.
* Sharing results to improve care

Knowledge of research delivery is desirable, not essential. However, applicants must have an interest in health and care research and mental health.

Main duties of the job

Promoting, supporting and following participants through their research journey on one of our many National Institute of Health and Care Research portfolio of projects within Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust.

We conduct research in mental health, learning disabilities and children's services and we require the post holder to be organised, enthusiastic, self motivated, flexible and an excellent communicator.

The role will require you to lead and manage multiple projects to deadlines, targets and quality standards.

Excellent IT skills are also a must.

It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract.

Person Specification

* At least 1 year experience of working as a Peer Support Worker supporting patients
* Experience of delivering training sessions on peer support
* Professional knowledge acquired through degree or equivalent qualification or experience. (Degree or equivalent qualification must be in a relevant health subject e.g Nursing, AHP, psychology, healthcare science, health and social care etc. or experience of working in the field of patient, public involvement or improvement)
* Completed an accredited Peer Support training course
