Volunteering with St John Ambulance strengthens communities. From youth support and education to wellbeing, events, and fundraising; your time makes a real impact.
At St John Ambulance, we are looking to develop our volunteering offer and become an even more integral part of our communities through delivering community first aid and education.
We need people who have a passion for helping others, care about their communities and want to make a difference, supporting them to become safe and more resilient by sharing your first aid skills and knowledge. As a Community First Aider, you’ll deliver first aid to those in need through local events, as well as provide education to the public so that the ripple effect of First Aid grows.
Through supporting the growth of community partnerships, you will bring people along to our cause, growing our membership and fundraising base and spreading the message that First Aid Saves Lives.
Volunteering as a Community First Aider provides a huge sense of satisfaction and pride in delivering an essential service. It’s great for you, your community, and our nation, requiring only a small time commitment.
We will provide you with a proper induction to volunteering with SJA and the necessary training for your role. You will also have access to a supportive environment while volunteering. Details about volunteer roles are included in the role descriptions, along with our volunteer charter outlining mutual expectations.
Volunteers are expected to attend regular training evenings, online training, and specific face-to-face training for their role. Once trained, volunteers will assist at First Aid, PR, and fundraising events.
If successful, you will need to undertake induction and training on these dates:
Welcome Event (Induction) - Saturday 11th October in Aylesbury.
Role training - Following the selection event, a Welcome event on Saturday 1st November in Aylesbury, plus online training and a two-day face-to-face classroom training over a weekend.
Closing date for applications is: 03/10/2025.
