Job Summary
We are looking for a Consultant Neurologist with an interest in epilepsy to join our department at UHS based purely at Southampton General Hospital. You will be part of the WNC regional stroke on-call rota, providing excellent hyper‑acute stroke care as part of the mechanical thrombectomy service, while managing inpatients and outpatients with neurological diseases and contributing to the regional stroke MT service. Working as part of the regional epilepsy service, you will deliver tertiary epilepsy services including the work‑up for epilepsy surgery and take part in the Southampton General Hospital ward liaison service on a 1:5 weekly rota, as well as regional and departmental CPD and governance activities. You will contribute to research and education and collaborate with epilepsy nurse specialists, neurosurgeons, neurophysiologists and neuropsychiatrists to develop the comprehensive regional epilepsy service.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide hyper‑acute stroke care on the WNC regional stroke on‑call rota as part of the mechanical thrombectomy service.
* Manage inpatients and outpatients with neurological diseases and contribute to the regional stroke MT service.
* Deliver tertiary epilepsy services, including the work‑up for epilepsy surgery.
* Participate in the Southampton General Hospital ward liaison service on a 1:5 weekly rota.
* Engage in regional and departmental CPD and governance activities.
* Contribute to research and education.
* Collaborate with the epilepsy multidisciplinary team to develop the regional epilepsy service.
Candidate Requirements
* Consultant qualified status under the terms and conditions of service for Consultants (England) 2003.
* Special interest in epilepsy and ability to work flexibly across the WNC region.
* Experience in managing neurological diseases and participating in stroke or epilepsy services is essential.
