About the role
Join our dynamic team at LNG Grain as a Operations Finance Manager. In this pivotal role, you will lead the company's financial accounting for the Grain Isle facility and JV group companies and to ensure they are carried out efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice.
This role is based from our world-class facility in the Isle of Grain, Kent, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home, there is an expectation to be on site at least 3 times a week. Please note, due to the location of the site you must have a full UK driving licence and be able to drive to site.
What you'll do
* Leads and manage finance ledgers and accounting team for the ~GBP300m revenue, ~250 employees facility and the Group companies comprising of TopCo, MidCo, BidCo, Grain LNG and Thames Interchange Ltd
* Maintain the integrity of the financial ledgers, understand fully all accounts and inputs and ensure they are in accordance with company policies and accepted UK and IFRS standards.
* Routine and ad-hoc reporting as required
* Complete or review accounting journals
* Complete all assigned balance sheet reconciliations and analyses with detailed commentaries
* Half year and year end statutory reporting to investors
* Provide explanations to investor accounting team as required
* Support the preparation of budget and forecasts with accurate ledger data
* Responsible for all VAT, Intrastat and EC Sales lists
* Responsible for fixed asset ledger, reporting and process
* Responsible for payroll team and liaise with payroll provider
* Ensure the business software is used efficiently, effectively and in line with best practice
* Develops and implements adequate systems of internal controls (including reconciliations) along with monitoring and updating operational and financial systems, policies and procedures to protect the assets of Grain LNG and to ensure compliance with internal control requirements.
* Provides leadership and direction to the finance team; empowers employees to achieve business objectives with a sense of urgency and leveraging change when possible.
* Creates and maintains a productive work environment with appropriate communication and involvement by all staff
* Selects, trains, motivates, mentors and directs the accounting staff to ensure effective departmental operation
What you'll need
* At least five years' experience in industry
* Fully qualified accountant (CA, ACA, ACCA or CIMA)
* Experience of PE reporting environment and/or US Corporate reporting requirements preferred
* Experience of working in a SME scaled business and large company environments
* Sound and up to date knowledge of UKGAAP and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
* Experience of managing staff within the accounts department
* Proficiency with integrated business software (Tier 2) including its design, implementation and operation
* Strong internal control perspective and ability to identify and implement improvements to processes and procedures
* Take charge individual with lots of energy and clear sense of urgency
* Ability to work in a team-oriented matrix environment that is fast paced, high energy and demanding
* Ability to motivate staff in order to continually hit deadlines
* Proven track record of meeting commitments with the highest standards of ethics and integrity
* Self-starting with good organisational skills
* Ability to drive solutions to complex operational and financial issues
* Effective communicator
What you'll get
A competitive salary between £59,000 - £70,000 per annum– dependent on capability.
