About the role
The unique position of HSEQ Advisor has now become available within our Corporate Services Team based at our Cambridge Depot. The HSEQ Advisor will support the HSEQ Systems Manager in the implementation of, review of and compliance with all relevant WH&S, Environment and Quality policies, procedures, legislative and contract obligations, investigations and corrective actions.
The role plays a key part in managing risk, promoting continuous improvement and a positive safety culture. The role will liaise with a variety of stakeholders to ensure Stornoway maintains a positive safety culture, meets our compliance obligations, and fosters open and constructive communication and teamwork.
The role offers a blend of office and site-based work with frequent statewide travel essential. The role would best suit a person who is able to travel frequently, is capable and comfortable working as an individual or in a team environment, and who enjoys fast paced, friendly, and positive workplace environments.
To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be able to satisfy the following mandatory selection criteria (applicants who can also demonstrate the desirable criteria would be highly regarded) –
Mandatory
Proven experience in safety systems management preferably in construction, civil infrastructure or a related field
Sound understanding of ISO45001 (OHS), ISO14001 (environmental) and ISO9001 (quality management) or ability to acquire knowledge
Experience leading audits, investigations and stakeholder engagement
Medium/High proficiency in MS Excel, Outlook, Word, and Teams
Highly developed attention to detail, organisational, time management, and accuracy skills
Confident knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks / functions in a timely and accurate manner
Clear and confident communicator with the ability to problem solve and lead through influence
High level of diplomacy and conflict resolution skills
Relevant tertiary qualifications in WHS, Environmental Management, or similar field (minimum Certificate IV Work Health and Safety (WHS)).
General Safety Induction White Card
A current Australian Driver’s License C (Car)
An Australian Resident or hold an Australian Working VISA with rights to work
Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health, Safety and Management
About you
You will have a personable demeaner, with a hands-on approach and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment with a great deal of variety. You will have an extremely high attention to detail and have solid experience in practical safety, quality, or environmental roles—ideally in civil construction or a high-risk industry. You will have a formal qualification in WHS or similar and be competent with ISO systems and practices. Proficient with MS and mobile device applications, with the capability and confidence to communicate effectively, efficiently, and professionally with a diverse workforce in either written or verbal format. You enjoy the flexibility of working independently or within a team environment and can confidently manage your own tasks and priorities whist being able to identify and communicate any supports required.
You possess a safety-first approach with the desire to learn and develop your skills further. You embrace change and thrive in an environment that encourages open, honest, and respectful feedback. You are eager to attain a role in which you can make a positive contribution to the future development and implementation of safety initiatives, technological advancements, and process improvements and efficiencies (safer, simpler, smarter, swifter).
