Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Family Therapist to work in a dedicated and specialist multi‑disciplinary eating disorders service for young people and their families. The post will be part of the Ancora House, CHEDS integrated eating disorder service. CHEDS is a regional outpatient service offering evidence‑based treatment approaches to 13‑18 year olds who present with an eating disorder and their families / carers. CHEDS also provides a day service provision and inpatient services.
This is an excellent opportunity to develop family and systemic work within a specialist setting. The post-holder will be offered the opportunity for continued professional development within a well‑established multi‑disciplinary service.
The post is permanent with part‑time hours (22.5 hours/0.6 WTE).
Responsibilities
* Provide systemic assessment, therapy and interventions across inpatient and day service provisions.
* Lead the development of systemic assessment and intervention skills through training, supervision, co‑working and consultation within the team.
* Act as a specialist resource and contribute systemic knowledge to case discussions in reviews and clinical meetings.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
* Post‑graduate/doctoral level qualification in family and systemic psychotherapy recognised by DOH and AFT.
* High‑level knowledge of the theory and practice of family and systemic psychotherapy.
* Knowledge and skills of a range of models in the assessment and treatment of child mental health, including specific family and systemic theories and evidence base.
* Effective communication skills, both oral and written, for complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information.
* Knowledge of relevant clinical research literature and ability to apply it to child mental health practice.
* Knowledge of legislation relating to the client group and mental health, education and the Children Act and Child protection.
* Generic and discipline‑specific mental health assessments and treatments of children and families across a range of ages.
* Formulating and devising treatment plans for a range of presentations, including both short‑ and long‑term approaches.
* Working autonomously with families providing assessment and treatment services.
* Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings and co‑working assessments and treatment within clinic‑based settings.
* Case‑managing families requiring longer‑term family and systemic psychotherapy.
Desirable
* Knowledge of different models of family work and evidence base for family therapy.
* Working knowledge of at least one other specialist psychological therapy.
* Interest in academic links and research.
* Experience of providing a culturally sensitive service.
* Experience of working with young people with eating disorders.
* Experience of teaching and training.
* Experience of delivering group and consultation support to staff in non‑CAMHS settings.
Recruitment Information
Planning dates: Shortlisting 01/12/2025, Interview 18/12/2025.
Salary: £47,810 to £54,710 per annum pro‑ratio (Band 7).
Contract: Permanent. Working pattern: Part‑time.
