We are currently recruiting for an Environmental Engineer to be placed in Leatherhead for a 6‑month contract position on a part‑time basis. The main function is to support the Environmental & Social Impact Assessment and other environmental design and engineering work for an onshore energy security/traditional energies facility expansion.
Responsibilities
* Perform all conventional aspects of the Environmental scope area as part of the project team.
* Develop environmental deliverables such as Environmental Philosophies, Environmental Impact Identification (ENVID) Reports, Environmental Management Plans, Emissions Inventories, Terms of Reference (ToRs) for workshops, and Scopes of Work (SoW) for studies.
* Support studies focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and ensuring alignment with net‑zero commitments.
* Provide expert guidance on environmental compliance, including Best Available Techniques (BAT), and ensure regulatory adherence throughout project lifecycles.
* Coordinate and liaise with third‑party contractors undertaking environmental studies, such as Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and site baseline surveys.
* Represent environmental aspects in ENVID and BAT reviews.
* Manage environmental aspects of projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to achieve environmental objectives.
Skills & Qualifications
* Undergraduate or postgraduate education with a focus on Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related fields, including final year design projects and work placements.
* Experience working on oil and gas design projects, particularly in Wastewater Treatment and Energy transition projects (e.g., CCSU). Such experience is desirable.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for report creation, data analysis, and presentations. Experience with GIS and air dispersion modelling software is desirable.
* Bachelor’s degree (BEng or BSc) in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
* Membership in a relevant engineering, science, or environmental institute.
